Elders Real Estate at Jamberoo has once again provided a space for community members to donate gifts to the local Salvation Army, ensuring families in need have a brighter Christmas.

Each year, the Salvation Army compiles a list of local families who could use support during the festive season. They consult with parents to understand the kinds of gifts that would best suit their family, then carefully package and deliver the presents on Christmas Eve.

For 24 years the generosity of the Jamberoo community has shone brightest during the festive season, as neighbours come together to ensure no family is left behind. Year after year, locals dig deep, contributing gifts that range from toys and books to thoughtful items for teens and adults.

What makes Jamberoo’s effort truly special is its focus on personal connection. Families donating often ask, “What’s needed most?”, ensuring gifts are practical, meaningful, and tailored to those receiving them.

From handmade crafts to thoughtful purchases, each gift reflects the heart of a small but mighty community that cares deeply for its own. It’s a reminder that, in Jamberoo, generosity isn’t just a seasonal act — it’s part of the fabric of daily life.

While gifts for young children often come in abundance, this year the Salvation Army identified a recurring challenge: providing for teenagers. Parents particularly mentioned their teenage daughters would love makeup packs. Meryll Faulkner of Making Faces Studio in Kiama stepped in, generously providing tailored packs to meet this need.

Paul Farthing, who works alongside his wife Jess to package and deliver the gifts in the Kiama and Shellharbour LGAs, emphasised the joy and relief these efforts bring to local families. “It’s about making sure no one misses out and that every family member feels thought of,” he said.

This year’s donations will fill baskets, bags, and boxes to the brim, a testament to the community’s compassion. From toys and games to thoughtful gifts for adults and teens, Elders at Jamberoo and the Salvation Army are delivering more than presents — they’re delivering connection and care.

The Salvation Army is still in urgent need of donations, particularly sports equipment or gift vouchers for teenage boys. These items will help ensure every teenager feels included and valued this Christmas. Please contact Kaen Walker on 0438 435 705 if you are able to donate these items
