Ignite brings fire and ice to townKiKi takes a turn on the ice rink

UPDATE: Weather forces cancellation of Ignite Winter Festival

A late addition to Kiama's Ignite Winter Festival is the setting up of a synthetic ice skating rink on the Harbour.

As its operator Adam Hart says, "It is all the fun without the wet bum."

Our own KiKi, who is performing at the Festival, gives the rink her best

While the weather forecast is for some rain, Sally Bursell, Destination Kiama's Acting Tourism & Events Manager, says the show must go on.

"The showers aren't going to be heavy, but it could be quite windy," she says.

"Rug up and come down to enjoy our first winter festival.

"We've got some great food vans coming along and lots of great entertainment."

As a precaution, the long table dinner is now going to proceed under the cover of a marquee with transparent roof and sides, so diners can enjoy the spectacle.

Ignite begins at 3pm and the fireworks go off at 7pm.

The rink, which was a great hit at the Surflife Festival in Gerringong a couple of years ago, will be open from 9am on Saturday and again on Sunday when the Kiama Seaside Market is on.

It costs $10 for an unlimited time, and can accommodate up to 40 people.
