Kiama High School congratulates students on HSC results

Students across 2,215 NSW public schools received their HSC results and university entry scores today. Among them, 59 students across 37 schools were represented at the First in Course ceremony in Sydney yesterday. These diligent students were recognised for their outstanding achievement in placing first or equal in a subject.

Kiama High School Principal Catherine Glover said the school is extremely proud of every Year 12 student on completing their HSC.

“We have had high expectations for our students and have enjoyed outstanding results,” said Glover.

“Remarkably, Band 6 distinctions were achieved across all Key Learning Areas (KLAs) at KHS. Subjects such as Aboriginal Education, Ancient History, Biology, Business Studies, Community and Family Studies, Legal Studies, Mathematics Standard 2, Mathematics Advanced, Music, PDHPE (Physical Education), and an E4 in English Extension 1 showcased the exceptional quality of education provided at our school.”

“This success serves as a testament to the high-quality education we consistently offer across all learning domains at Kiama High School.”

“Each and every student should be congratulated and now take the time to relax and enjoy their achievements before moving onto the next phase of their life. The Kiama High School staff and community wish you all the best with your future endeavours.”

The Bugle would like to acknowledge and congratulate the hard work of students across the country, but especially in the Kiama LGA. If you know any students who deserve to be recognised for their academic achievements, let us know at [email protected]

Two high-achieving students from Kiama are identical twins Clara and Bea McDonald, who are both keen to study law in Sydney next year. Both attended Shellharbour Anglican College for their early years of schooling but swapped to Frensham School in Mittagong for Years 10 - 12. If the names sound familiar, it’s because Clara and Bea made headlines when they saved a visiting family from a rip at Bombo Beach in January 2023.

Bea and Clara

The twins shouldn’t have issues getting into any university they want with their HSC results. Bea achieved a Band 6 in English Advanced, English Extension 2, PDHPE, Ancient History, History Extension and Studies of Religion, while Clara got a Band 6s in English Advanced, English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Mathematics Standard, Modern History, History Extension and Studies of Religion. Clara will also receive the Premier’s Award as a HSC All Rounder for achieving a Band 6 in each subject. Congratulations Bea and Clara!

NSW Education Department Secretary Murat Dizdar congratulated all NSW students on completing their HSC, saying “I’m particularly thrilled to see the outstanding performance of our comprehensive high schools and all credit goes to the commitment of the students, their teachers and their families who support them.”

Congratulations to the NSW HSC class of 2023 and best of luck with your bright futures!
