McDonald to be number one on Kiama Council Ballot paper

On August 15 the paper ballot draw was held at Centenary Hall in Albion Park with Cameron Mcdonald and his team securing the coveted group A spot.

The order is as follows:

Group A: Cameron McDonald

Group B: Alan Smith

Group C: Matt Brown

Group D: Imogen Draisma

Group E: Melinda Lawton

Group F: Mike Cains

Group G: Yasmin Tatrai

Group H: Mark Croxford

Mark Whalan of the Greens party, who were drawn in group E, says that the order of the ballot does have a small impact on voters when they go to vote.

“Basically people think you’ve got a much better chance. People will vote for who they know, the advantage of the greens is we are a very familiar name. Statistics say that you have a .5% advantage being A on the ballot paper,” says Whalan.

“But I must say I had a brother in law run for council and he was number 2 on the ticket and he got 90% of the votes, so strange things can happen. “

Also drawn was the Shellharbour Mayor ballot which was drawn as follows:

A: Chris Homer

B: Rob Petreski

C: Paul Rankin
