The Albion Oval in Albion Park Rail will officially unveil its new amenities this Saturday (1 June) at 9.30am. In a major renewal effort, the project has sought to replace outdated amenities buildings with modern, functional facilities designed to meet the diverse needs of Shellharbour City’s sporting community.
The new amenities building features male and female change rooms, a canteen, dedicated storage rooms for sports equipment, a referees’ room, a first aid room, and public toilets, ensuring a safe and accessible environment for all.
Chris Homer, Shellharbour City Mayor will be joined by The Hon. Dr. Sarah Kaine MLC, and MP for Kiama Gareth Ward with representatives from local sporting clubs to officially open the new facilities.
Council contributed $1.85M to the project while the NSW State Government’s Regional Sports Facilities Fund gave $750,000. The upgrades will provide diverse benefits to local sporting communities and will aim to service as a central hub for activities and events.
“Local sport infrastructure plays a critical role in keeping communities healthy, active and connected and these improvements mean that Albion Oval can cater to more members of the community,” says Chris Homer, who expressed his appreciation to the NSW State Government for its support in funding the project.
