An Extraordinary Meeting of Kiama Council has unanimously agreed to recommend to the Minister for Planning and Public Spaces that the South Kiama Planning Proposal should not proceed, as it fails to satisfy the essential Strategic Merit and Site-Specific Merit Tests.
Despite significant opposition from the community, the Sims Road Planning Proposal was recommended to proceed to Gateway Determination (the next step in the planning proposal process) as it did satisfy the Merit tests. Councillors Sloan and Rice voted against this motion. The Proposal seeks a spot rezoning of the agricultural land to permit general industries on the site.
Council's budget for 2021/2 was also approved without significant modification at the Meeting.
