See what is Up for Grabs

Around 25 per cent of items dropped off over the nine day Household Bulky Waste Drop Off event (which had over 13,000 bookings) have been saved and put in the Up4Grabs shop, according to Waste Management Officer, Josephine St John.

Council’s Up4Grabs shop opened at the Minnamurra Waste and Recycling Depot today, offering an enormous range of someone else’s unwanted but still usable things up for grabs and all for free.

Think of it as all of the treasure that used to be found in the days of the kerbside pickups, all in one convenient place.

There are plenty of books and bikes for adults and kids, as well as children’s toys and bric a brac, all available in the big new shed. There is also furniture perfect for someone who needs a ‘fixer upper’ project, including a treadle sewing machine that dates back to 1913.

For those more active, fishing rods, camping chairs, surf boards and wet suits, snow skis and more are all there to be rehomed.

Ms St John is urging everyone to get in and have a look before they close on Wednesday afternoon.

“You don’t have to be a resident, anyone from outside the area is welcome to come through and have a look,” Josephine says.

The event is on twice a year in September and March.

Open from 8am-4pm Monday - Wednesday,
