With the remnants of Cyclone Seth bringing big seas down from the north, Council has closed all of the beaches except for Gerroa after again closing Kiama’s Rock Pool earlier this morning.
“The pool has been assessed as unsafe due to the very high tide and hazardous conditions,” Council says on its website. It is expected to reopen again later today at low tide, around 4pm. The more sheltered Continental Pool remains open.
Conditions will continue to be monitored by Council's Lifeguard team, and the beaches will be reopened when deemed safe. The rough conditions are expected to continue for a number of days.
Many, including surfers, are being attracted to the harbour which is hosting a good set of waves.
Police continue to encourage the community to be extra careful in, on, and around waterways after recent drownings and rescues across NSW.
