Telstra will be upgrading its base station at Saddleback Mountain in July to give their customers better service in the area and to also prepare the network for 5G coverage.
The Telstra base station at Saddleback provides mobile reception to Jerrara and Rose Valley. Due to the upgrade, the Telstra coverage in the area will be disrupted.
“There’s never a good time to undertake this sort of work,” says Telstra Regional General Manager Chris Taylor. “But once it is complete, it will mean better mobile service for local residents.”
The site is expected to be offline from 7am on Wednesday 17 July to 5pm on Tuesday 23 July. And then from Wednesday 24 July to Friday 26 July there will be testing which will put the network offline for four hours at a time.
If all goes well, the update will be completed by 26 July and Saddleback Mountain’s site will join more than 4,900 Telstra 5G sites on-air within selected areas of more than 400 cities and towns across Australia.
“We’re continuing to expand our 5G network across location and nationally we’re adding new sites to the network every week. Upgrades like these continue to demonstrate Telstra’s ongoing commitment to regional Australia,” says Taylor.
