Woman dies after truck crash at Dunmore

A 23-year-old woman has died and another was left in a critical condition following a crash involving a truck and motorcycle scooter on the Princes Highway in Dunmore on Sunday night.


The incident took place at about 10pm on Sunday 21 January 2024, when a truck collided with the back of the scooter approximately one kilometre south of the Shellharbour Road overpass.



Two women were ejected from the scooter, where it’s understood that the passenger, a 23-year-old woman, died at the scene. The other woman was airlifted to St George Hospital in a serious condition, and is being treated for shoulder injuries and significant grazes.


The truck driver, a 48-year-old man, was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and causing bodily harm by misconduct. He was refused bail, and will face Wollongong Local Court today.


Officers attached to the Southern and metropolitan Crash Investigation Units will conduct investigations into the incident. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
