Hope lies with two weeks without a case

With two more COVID cases being recorded for the Kiama LGA in today's figures, the release date for our lockdown keeps being pushed back.

“The Deputy Premier has made clear that the metric for releasing areas from lockdown is two weeks without a case,” says Gareth Ward, Member for Kiama.

“If we can sustain two weeks without a case then I will certainly be writing to him, as I have done on the previous occasion, and asking for us to be released.”

When that will happen is anyone’s guess, especially after the finding of COVID fragments in the Gerroa Sewage Treatment Plant.

“It is hard to say now that we have got cases in the area,” says Gareth Ward.

Despite the cases today in Kiama LGA, there has also been an ease in restrictions across NSW with five vaccinated adults now allowed to gather outside together for outdoor recreation and exercise.

Over 50 per cent of the LGA’s eligible residents have now been double vaccinated.
