The South Coast is in the international spotlight this week as Consuls-General from 13 nations embark on a NSW Government trade mission to explore the region’s business and investment opportunities.
Delegates from Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Switzerland, and the UK will spend three days touring the area. The visit highlights the South Coast's strengths in aquaculture, food and beverage, manufacturing, tourism, and clean technology.
Key stops include Killalea Regional Park, Bega Cheese, and the Alkath Group, as well as visits to innovative local businesses such as PhycoHealth and Recycling Technologies Group. Delegates will also experience the South Coast Ale Trail and learn about Aboriginal heritage at Jigamy Farm and Snug Cove.
Ian Smith, Executive Director of Regional Economic Development for the NSW Department of Primary Industries, called the trade mission a chance to showcase the region’s potential. “The South Coast is ripe for investment in both existing and emerging industries,” he said.
The initiative, part of the NSW Government’s Regional Investment Activation Program, aims to drive growth and create jobs in regional areas.
