Walk the bypass

Everyone is invited to book to take a walk on the new motorway near Tongarra Road this Saturday, as part of the lead up to the opening of the Albion Park Rail bypass in a few weeks.

Throughout the day there will be music, kid’s entertainment, jumping castles, a petting zoo and food and coffee vendors. There will also be an interactive exhibit on road safety and an information stand about the work taking place on the Princes Highway.

The $630 million project, funded by the NSW Government, is the largest ever single investment in the history of the Princes Highway and the largest single infrastructure project in the region.

The new four lane bypass is a 9.8 kilometre long extension of the M1 Princes Motorway and features 13 bridges.

Access to the open day event will be via shuttle bus service only, with no pedestrian access to the event. The shuttle buses will operate from five locations between 10am and 2pm, picking up from:

  • Jamberoo Action Park
  • Croome Road (opposite Maple Street) before the corner of Tongarra Road
  • Shellharbour City Library
  • Tongarra Road bus stop ID 252b761
  • Station Road (west of Princes Highway and opposite Albion Park train station).

The rest of the Albion Park bypass is in its final stages of completion, and the opening date is expected to be announced shortly.

The event is on this Saturday 19 June from 10am-2pm.

Bookings and registration are essential. Book online now.
